Studio Air and Power thrives amid adversity, showcasing resilience in Hollywood’s challenging landscape.
In the ever-evolving world of Hollywood, where creativity and competition collide, few family-run businesses stand the test of time. Studio Air and Power, owned and operated by the Webb family for generations, is one of those rare exceptions—having recently faced some of its most challenging moments and emerging stronger than ever.
Fending Off a Corporate Takeover
In 2023, Studio Air and Power found itself in the crosshairs of a major corporation seeking to buy out the family business. When the Webb's refused to sell, the corporation resorted to poaching key employees in an attempt to weaken the company. But the Webb family’s determination and commitment to their core values helped them fight back and preserve the integrity of their business.
“We were being attacked on all sides, but we weren’t about to let that define our future,” recalls CEO Harrison Webb. “Staying true to our values—putting people and service first—became our guiding light, and in the end, it paid off.”
Navigating Industry Strikes
Just as the dust from the corporate attacks settled, the film industry was rocked by the 2023 Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) strikes. Studio Air and Power, which serves as a critical support service for Hollywood productions, had to navigate these difficult times while maintaining its operations.
“It wasn’t easy,” says Harrison. “But we’ve always been adaptable. We listened to what our clients needed, kept our lines of communication open, and focused on supporting the industry in any way we could.”
This period of strikes, followed by a potential Teamsters strike in 2024, pushed the company to double down on what matters most: a commitment to customer service and remaining flexible in the face of uncertainty.
A New Era of Growth and Focus
As the film industry slowly recovers from the strikes, Studio Air and Power is moving forward with a renewed sense of purpose. The company has refocused on its roots, emphasizing reliability, family values, and customer care.
“We’ve faced our fair share of challenges, but they’ve only made us stronger,” says Harrison. “We’ve leaned into what makes us unique, and that’s our focus on customer service, our family values, and our ability to pivot when necessary.”
Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, Studio Air and Power is set on expanding its services and continuing to support the Hollywood community through whatever challenges come next. With a legacy rooted in perseverance, the Webb family is poised to carry their business into the future, stronger than ever.
