After the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world in 2020, the Webb family saw an opportunity to expand their business and meet a growing need in the industry: reliable, large-scale power services.
In a bold move, Studio Air and Power rebranded from Studio Air Conditioning and made significant investments in power equipment. Millions of dollars went into acquiring Studio 1400 generators, portable transformers, power distribution equipment, cables, and accessories. This upgrade now positions the company as a full-service power provider, capable of meeting the energy demands of any Hollywood production, from base camps and cooking shows to live television and major studio backup power.
At the heart of this expansion is the company’s strategic hire, Richard "Rick" Wheeler, an industry veteran with decades of experience in the power sector. Rick now leads the company’s new Power Division, bringing a wealth of knowledge and expertise to this growing venture.
“With Rick’s leadership and our new arsenal of power equipment, we’re capable of handling virtually any power requirement,” says CEO Harrison Webb. “We can support anything from the largest film studios to small productions in remote locations. We’re excited about this new chapter.”
This strategic shift ensures that Studio Air and Power remains a key player in Hollywood, powering not just its own equipment, but entire productions and events. The new power services are already being used to support live television shows, location shoots, and high-profile productions.
